the tragically hip

30"X24" oil on canvas

I've been making sweet sounds instead of sweet sights these past few days, so there's not really anything fantastically huge that's been painted etc. instead, I've been asked to post this old assignment. while the rest of the class was painting their fiances, I was explaining to my former flower child of a professor what a scene kid is. the uncomfortably large portrait currently resides behind the strobe light in our living room, right accross from the hulk hands and disco balls.

your mama used to dance

11"x14" oil on paper

there's this funny feeling that these are not entirely my own idea, that I saw something similar somewhere at some point but since I can't quite recall, who really knows? freud says we retain everything we see or experience and I'm not one to refute it. today you get fingerpainted portraits of Some Random Girl and a friend named Mark, gifts for a certain fabulous someone.

secrets

30"X24" acrylic collage inside canvas

you'll have to content yourself with poor-quality photos of old things, but the paintings from yesterday and today must remain unseen for just a few days more.

15"x10" watercolor on paper
14"x8" oil on paper

Ok, so blogspot has been being a jerk these past few days and wouldn't allow me to post anything new. To compensate, you get double the dose today- more fingerpainted oils and new watercolor pencils from the 16 hour car ride to Destin. Also, there are exciting things in the works after I graduate in December involving my first ever art classes (if you don't count that one inconsequential first painting course this past spring), a master's degree and certain certifications. Details on that as things get ironed out into certainty. Til then, see you tomorrow.

I know I kind of forgot to tell you, but I'm sort of on vacation for a couple weeks and have a) no scanner and b) rare internet access. Check back on Monday, July 17th for an actual update. Until then, certain white sand beaches are calling me out for a contest of "Who's the Most Glaringly Pale?" and for a short while, victory will surely be mine. See you in a week!

done!

sleep is a truly, gloriously essential thing. no more summer coursework means these moments will happen significantly less often.
